He entered the order at the age of 14 years under the tutorship of Ven Balalle Seelaratana Nayaka Thera (chief incumbent of Palagala Purana Vihara in Polgahawela and the chief Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka of Dambadeni-Harispattuwa.
